In Ljubljana, Slovenia, the diplomatic conference on the adoption of the Convention on International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, War Crimes, and other International Crimes, also known as the Draft Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) Convention continues this week. The landmark treaty will help to facilitate the investigation and prosecution of international crimes, at the national level.
ACIJ wrote to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Attorney-General welcoming the Australian Government’s expressed support for the treaty and further urging the Australian Government to do more to give full effect to the treaty’s implementation and Australia’s ability to investigate and prosecute international crimes.
